I've lost my heart in Chicago... to Chicago!

I am in Chicago. I love it. My family is here and I feel like being back home. Even though I apparently develop some strange difficulties over here: Ordering food seems to be quite a challenge, riding a bus made me face one of the most unfriendly Americans I’ve ever met and getting to a shooting range is apparently much more difficult than one would believe. Still, I could live here. Not anywhere, but for sure in Hinsdale. That’s America as I’ve always imagined it to be: great neighborhood, breathtaking houses, friendly people who will give you a ‘we-are-family’-feeling. You gotta love Hinsdale!

Against all odds and despite the high level of weirdness, I have started sewing a few months ago. It’s really fun, but pretty unbelievable, since I’ve surely never been someone, who could enjoy being such a girl. So, I started sewing this and that… and I have to admit, the first few trials were a pretty sad experience for everyone involved. I guess, my poor boyfriend suffered the most. He tried to be polite and not break my heart at the first (ugly) piece. Thanks, baby! Anyways, you were right… and since it is pretty impressing, how ugly something could actually be, I can’t hold it back from you:

Hi everyone, let me introduce….tatatadaaaaa: our first styledenker reporter Juliane:

Juliane is a styledenker to the core and celebrates her debut as a guest author on our blog right now, in this very second. How exciting! She discovered Bikram Yoga three years ago while living in London but has started practicing only recently when she discovered the Bikram Yoga studio in Munich’s trendy neighbourhood Schwabing. On Saturday she had the chance to meet the guru behind Bikram Yoga, Bikram Choudhury who visited the studio for its first anniversary.
Uh, by the way: you wanna try Bikram Yoga for the first time? No Prob, as a styledenker reader, you can take whoever’s dear to you for a 7-day trial at the Bikram Yoga Schwabing (Munich) for 20 Euro! Simply share the prize and double the fun. Thanks, Juliane, a truly great offer! I’ll see you in the next session…;)

I know, I know, it has been way too long since I last updatd you on what’s going on in a styledenker’s life. Shame on me!
But I promise to make a round up this weekend. Expect some culinary WAOs, something to beauty-up and something to win, a short review of some simple but unforgettable moments in Austria and surely some comedy. At least, I hope so.
Since we’re still being quite alone here, it would be marvelous to hear your stories. I wanna hear some happy ends, the weirdest stuff I could think of and some irony of the simplicity of life! Tell us lies, but tell us something!!!! So, people, move your buds, get creative and talk to us!!!
Let’s rock!

I already told you about my moment of surprise, when I found some of my old pictures from back in 2009 on my brand new iPhone just about a week ago. Even though I’ve been talking to people a lot about this big-brother-situation and some of you wrote me on this issue, we have not come to an answer yet of how my personal information hits me three years later. Anyways… looking at my pictures from back then, I am so happy to remember. Let’s get back to 2009.

When we had our two days break in Bozen, we stayed at the exclusive Hotel Gasthof Kohlern in 1130 Meters. It was impressive! We enjoyed the silence and our room with no TV as well as the stunning view over Bozen and the Alps. A couple of years ago, they built a small, but very decent Spa and Wellness area, where we relaxed wonderfully while watching the worst storm outside. You probably just saw the pictures in the blog. Reservation and more information on www.kohlern.com.
AlpineX 2011 – from Garmisch to Gardasee

In July 2011, my friend Moni and I started our first Alpine cross tour – from Garmisch (Bavaria) to Riva (Italy). It took us six days, 360 km, a lot of strength, nerves, muscles, and an Achilles tendonitis. But aboveall this, we had the time of our lives and happend to find some of the most beautiful places we’ve ever seen.
What we enjoyed most, was the silence of nature. Even though those six days were one of THE adventures of our lives, I believe pictures can say more than words. Check out the impressions:
